HELP: Limewire is currently connecting to the network

Help me please ! I have Limewire 4.12.6 and when i try to search for something, it says: "Limewire is currently connecting to the network. Your search may not return many results until you are fully connected to the network." That sucks.

It says this for about a month and I don't know why. It already happened before, but it fixed itself, but now, it seems not to fix ! I'm really discouraged I'm about to cry seriously I want to download some songs so bad :( Please help me, I tried many of the tips on the links but nothing works.

Thank you !

Did you try the various fixes here (click on link)? http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...t-connect.html

If nothing there worked, you'll need to post your system details (see link) :)

2. Windows XP has it's own firewall, so you need to make sure that you're not running 2 firewalls at once (they'll conflict with each other). If you're using a firewall provided by your ISP, make sure that the XP firewall is turned off. Also make sure that your other firewall is set to allow LW. Do you know the name of the firewall?

6. The devices that let you connect to the net. Look for a box with lights on it. You might have a separate modem & router or they might be all in one. Or you might just have a modem. Your modem/router might be connected to your computer by a cable or if you use a wireless connection, it could be in another room. If you can't see a brand or model, have a look underneath :) If you share the house, ask someone else & they might be able to help you.

8. Open LW, click on Help > click on About LimeWire... you'll see your Java version there.

9. Which company do you pay for your internet access (eg Telus, Cogeco, Shaw etc)?

14. In LW go tools > options > advanced > firewall. Do you have a button checked for 'manual port forward' there? If so, what port number is listed there? Or do you have the 'use UPnP' button checked? Or neither?
On that same page you'll see a 'listening port' box - what port number's in the box?

Which fixes did you try from the link in post #2? Were there any that you had trouble with, or didn't feel confident to try?
:)

2. How do I know if I have another firewall ? But I'm pretty sure I have only one.

8. My Java version is 1.5.0.

14. I have no button checked for "manual port device". The "use UPnP" is checked. My port number was 34812 but I tried to change it to see if it was making any difference, but no.

For the fixes, I tried almost everything ! This connexion problem "Limewire is currently blabla..." happened to me before and all I had to do was to disconnect and then reconnect it and that was good or it just fixed itself. Now, it's not working :(.

Thank you.

Go to Control Panel > Windows Firewall. There you'll see whether the Win firewall's off or on.

Your Java's very old... try updating that first. Click on this link Java SE Downloads & download the JRE offline installer.
Remove all other Java versions installed on your computer via Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs. Next, install the version that you've just downloaded. After that, restart your computer.

Did you replace your Gnutella.net file? If so, go & find that file. Hover your cursor over the file - what size is it?

Did you delete LW's preferences folder? After deleting that folder, did all of your LW options (within Tools > Options) revert back to default (ie did you have to re-set all your options)?
