![]() Okay, so I just moved from Bali, Indonesia, to Bangkok, Thailand, and now Limewire won't work properly. Actually, that's wrong. No P2P programs have worked since I got here. I tried using Frostwire to see if it made a difference, and nada. Zip. These are my problems.
1. OS version? Windows XP SP3. 2. What firewalls you have? Comodo. I used to use Windows Firewall until I started noticing these problems, then I stopped using WF and replaced it with Comodo. No change. (I have enabled LW.) 3. How much ram? 1.99 GB. 4. Hard Disk space available? 70.4 GB (149 GB in total). 5. Connection type? Broadband, I think. 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Modems connect your PC to the router if you're using wifi, right? I think my modem is a D-Link DWA-125 and my router is from ZyXEL, but I don't know what model it is. I doesn't say anywhere on it. 7. Where are you trying to connect from? Home. 8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? LW 5.3.6 and Java 1.6.0_17 9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? True Online, I believe (in Bangkok) 10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? It's says my test worked. 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. Yes; there's my PC, plus a HP laptop and a Mac laptop connected to the internet in our house. As far as I know they don't use any kind of P2P programs on them and our computers aren't connected to each other. We're all connected to the internet using wifi. 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user? New problem; never had any issues with LW before. 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? No, even if I go under Advanced Tools. I did before, though. I suspect it is due to LW's lack of connectivity to the Internet. 14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? Um... I'm pretty sure it's UPnP enabled but I could be wrong. I didn't set up our connection. 15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? Comodo Firewall and AVG Anti-Virus Free. 16. What country are you living in? Thailand. 17. Has anything in your setup changed recently? Have you updated your version of LW or Java? Have you added any new software or new hardware? Have you updated any software? Have you moved house, changed internet plan or ISP etc etc? Yes, we moved from Bali to Bangkok, I replaced my old speakers, I've uninstalled and re-installed LW a few times (to see if it would help) and I installed Frostwire. Thanks! ![]() |

![]() Do you have any downloads in progress when your conection dies? If so, only download 1 or maybe 2 files at a time (pause the rest or cancel downloads with only a small % downloaded). Also try disabling performance options - in LW go Tools > Options > Advanced > Performance. Disable DHT, TLS & Ultrapeer capabilities > ok. Otherwise, it sounds like the prob could be with your ISP. Many ISPs throttle (restrict) p2p bandwidth. Since the problems started after you moved & no other p2p apps work then that would be my best guess ![]() But I can't find any info about TrueOnline throttling. I've checked their site but translation is hopeless & most of the info just ends up garbled. If you can read the language then check out the terms & conditions on their site: hi-speed Internet by TrueOnline - Highlight Or you could ring their help desk & ask about their policy with p2p (file sharing) apps. One easy thing to try is changing ports. In LW go Tools > Options > Advanced > Super Really Advanced > Firewall. Change LW's listening port to 65000 (or you can try any ports in the range of 49152 - 65535) > ok. Sometimes ISPs only throttle during peak hours... so find out what your ISP's peak hours are & see whether things improve if you connect outside of peak ![]() Otherwise you could check out this thread for some alternatives (not always easy): http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...-limewire.html Last edited by birdy; December 18th, 2009 at 12:29 AM.
