10. Something is blocking port 6346. If even your internet browser cannot reach this page it means port(s) are being blocked. This is a big issue because it suggests some ports are being blocked for connecting.
15. Re-check your settings with Verizon Internet security suite. Some ISP's security software includes utilities that are anti-p2p file sharing & will block them.
14. Re-check your UPnP abilities. After the crash, some settings may have gone AWOL lol :D ie: check both your computer & router settings to be sure UPnP is set to run. I owned a Westell router once, but it did not have UPnP abilities. I have read where some Westell devices do not have reliable UPnP abilities, perhaps depending on firmware or model I don't know. My model of Westell did not cope well with high traffic & high numbers of connections at once & would sometimes disconnect from the internet altogether.

Something to try: Try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included at bottom of page.) BUT .. make sure you make a backup of your Downloads file from the preferences folder, it might be called Downloads.dat. ie: Post 5 has instructions on deleting the preferences folder & post 6 instructions on how to back-up the downloads.dat file.

Actually for time being, just make a backup of your downloads file (downloads.dat). Do not re-add it back to the preferences folder yet .. until you get connected ok. ;) This will prevent all these incomplete files attempting to connect at same time LW is attempting to. (The downloads.dat file can be re-added back at a later time after the connection issue is fixed.) In a way this is similar to Purging incomplete files, however without actually removing/deleting them.

I've reviewed this thread. Actually Westell devices are not that reliable run in UPnP mode from experience on these forums. I'd recommend port forwarding the router.

Instructions (this must be done in this order):

1. Set up a Static ip address for Windows XP

2. Port Forwarding Limewire on the Westell D90-327W15-06. When you port forward, choose both TCP & UDP. Preferential to do a separate port forward rule for each of UDP & TCP, using the same port.
Note: The instructions for LW on that page refer to LW 4. For LW 5, see sample image here Manual port forward instructions & sample image :)
Which port to use? I'd recommend choosing a port number between 49152 - 65535. Whichever one you choose should be the one you port forward & put into the connection & listening settings within LW.
