Did you try LW previously on your Satellite connection prior to purchasing Pro? Tried 'everything on the forums' ... wow you've read 83,100 threads & 326,666 posts, then you have definitely been busy investigating this. :) I don't see any details about your modem or router, who your ISP is .. erm .. I definitely get the impression you did not look very hard at the link Birdy gave you. |
I did try everything on birdys link i have a Dlink router im not sure about the internet its through direct tv. im about to say F*** this S*** there is not even a number to call to get a little help through limewire only these dumb forums |
You purchased the 'Limewire pro without support' so you are unable to use their email support. Should I thank you for referring to these forums as dumb. :) |
more info for birdy 1. OS version? vista 2. What firewalls you have?mcfee & Windows (set all to all limewire) 3. How much ram? 3G 4. Hard Disk space available? 250G 5. Connection type? Direct TV 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? D-Link 7. Where are you trying to connect from: intown suites hotel 8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? limewire 5.4.8 Java 1.6.0_6 Sample image *It's very important that you tell us whether you're using LW 5* 9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)?direct tv 10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? it said you test worked_ (Click to see sample image of what you should see) 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? I said yes to the p2p in limewire set up but i only have 1 pc and an xbox 360 & a ps3 & a wii 12. i just dont like having to type something and then wait 10 min for a reply i just want to get some help |
With Pro support you are generally waiting longer than 10 minutes for a reply .. can be over a day or few. Difference is we are all volunteers at this forum, we do not get paid but help out in our free time. |
well i am sorry i offended im just so frustrated im usally good with stuff like this |
One issue I can see is using both McAffee & Vista firewall. McAffee firewall can be difficult for p2p sharing apps, but in any case should only have one active. Try this, go to LW's menu bar, Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Firewall, and change both connection & listening port to a number between 49152 - 65535. |
it doesnt say firewall in there it just says system, listening ports, proxy, network interface, performance, filtering. |
i put the new number in the Listening port and it still wont connect |
Did you give up on me :( |
Did you do as LOTR advised & only have 1 software firewall active? In other words - disable 1 firewall & make sure that the other is configured to allow LW. Even remove all LW rules from the active firewall & configure it again from scratch. Have you tried updating your Java (& removing all other versions installed, before installing the latest version)? The latest version is Java 6 update 18. From what I can see, DirecTV uses a number of internet providers (eg AT&T, Qwest, Verizon etc)... do you know which ISP is providing your service? If you're connecting from a hotel, there might be another firewall associated with the internet there. You'd need to ask one of the hotel staff about that. You're probably frustrated because LW isn't connecting. But expecting people to help when your posts are rude & snotty isn't realistic. |
fine dont help it just ****** me off that i pay for something and it doesnt work i think it would upset anyone |
You had the option to try the free version first to be sure it worked. Instead your "arrogant" attitude which shows right through this thread came into play. Don't blame anybody for your buying of it except yourself. Why buy it without trying the free basic version first? There's no major differences between the free & pro versions. Sure there's improvements but not that dramatic. We know very little about your actual connection location or devices. We struggle to assist where we can but our guess is the problem lies either with the dual firewall (McAffee can be very tricky when it comes to p2p sharing software), or with your ISP or intermediate step of a hotel or other that manages & may filter the use of p2p software on that line. Sounds like your LW was unable to even find a single connection host. That in itself suggests some kind of a blockage along the way (such as deliberate blocking of p2p software.) And btw whilst we help on these forums for free, we also have other things happening in our lives which includes work &/ family, etc. :) |
