handling of NATed Nodes

Hi,

I saw a Gnutella client comparison table on Wikipedia and was interested to know more about how Phex deals with NAT. I got a couple of questions in this regards, any input would be dearly welcome.

In both 3.x code base and 2.8.x code base, there is this comment added to the ShareManager.handQuery() and QueryResultSearchEngine.handleQuery(): "Search the sharefile database and get groups of sharefiles. It returns empty results if the query source and the local host are both firewalled." Does firewalled here includes NATed? I hope no. In the latter case, in which class can I find the NAT handling?

thanks,
klaus.

NATed only means firewalled here, if the port isn’t forwarded. So if you are behind a NAT, just forward the port, then you can download from firewalled and nonfirewalled sources.

Phex doesn’t yet have automatical port forwarding, though (UPnP).
