Bouncing Line Speeds

Well, a couple months ago I began to notice on whichever version of LWPro was current at that time that my line speeds would bounce.

I have used Kazaa (Lite) a lot since then, but of course the selection on Kazaa isn't as good.

So I went back to LWPro (latest version 2.3.3 I think) the other day, and lo and behold - they haven't fixed it yet.

What I mean by bouncing line speeds is this:

I'll start a download. It'll zoom up to 30k. Then it'll proceed to go...

30, 0, 15, 0, 30, 0, 15, 30, 0, 15, 0, 15, 0, 30, 15, 30, 0

Over and over and over.

What gives? It NEVER did this before a specific version (which of course I forget the number).

I asked about it a couple times months ago with no response.

Anyone?

The problem is not the speed of your download, - it's probably just the way LimeWire measures your bandwidth. A possible change could be, to normalize the shown bandwidth usage, but why bother?

There's nothing you could do to the LimeWire code, that would have any impact on the overall download speed.

It's also possible, that the instable speed is a result of the upload mechanism, the uploading client uses: It could be the case, that it sends you a chunk of the file, then sends chunks to the other hosts it is uploading to and after a second or two sends another chunk to you. However I think there are more important things to worry about, at the moment.
