Greetings,
I just downloaded LimeWire a couple of days ago. From what I've seen, it seems to be a fairly decent program. I do have one fairly big problem with it though. I have a collection of Jazz music that encompases about 1600 files. When I opted to share these files with other LimeWire users, LimeWire became so slow that it was nearly impossible to use at all. It seems that the more files you have available for sharing, the slower the application runs. It does not matter how many files are being downloaded from me. In fact, even when there are no downloads in progress, the program plugs along at a snail's pace. It takes 10-60 seconds for a mouse click to register with the program, and it also slows down any other programs that I may have running on my computer. This is very disheartening, because I would like to share all of my extensive file collection, but the only way I am able to get LimeWire to perform at a useable speed is to greatly limit the number of files that I have available for other users to download from me. For now, I will stick with Hotline. Although the search capapbilities of Hotline are far inferior to those of LimeWire, the architecture of the program allows me to run a server with tens of thousands of files available with no noticeable system impedance. I think it would be prudent of the developers to look into this matter seriously. If one user can only share a few of his or her files, than what real benefit does the program offer? |

Im using LimewirePro and have about 4000 files shared. Even with one download/upload the system is extremely slow. Im on a cable modem and have the LW bandwidth set at 30kb and normally have no problems with downloads at 300-500kb. Running win2kpro, amd700 with 228mb mem. Any ideas?
