Limewire problems

Having just downloaded Limewire as a long overdue replacement for KaaZa, I am impressed with its overall look and feel.

My downloads are operating ok and after I found out that u need to "launch" a completed downlod - and a got rid of the built-in mp3 player- I am able to play the downloaded music quite satisfactorily on Windows Media Player.

What I cannot do, however is "Save" the downloads and so I obviously keep losing them, which is frustrating to say the least!!

According to "Help", all downloads should go straight into the "Library", but if they do - and most do not - I then see them on screen categorised as "incomplete files, which clearly won't play on WMP, or anywhere else.

What am doing wrong please. It's driving me mad and I've spent hours trying to work out what my problem is.

Help!!:( :(

If nothing else helps, choose another saving directory in "tools->options->saving" and add your saving directory to your library "tools->options->sharing".

Mitch,
Did you ever receive a reply?
I have been "downloading" songs for two weeks and the computer has it viewed as 100% downloaded but the other version automatically set up a COMPLETED file in the Library...I never bothered to viewed them afterwards because my intention was to burn them not to listen at work...Today I tried to burn them for the holiday week road trip, and the damn songs are not there...What to do? Where the hell are they?

Limewire Library problems

Hi Unregistered

Sorry to hear that u won't have the music u wanted for your weekend trip!

Seen Taliban's comments? (Thanks, Taliban}

I think, however, that I've spent more than enough time trying to understand the quirks of Limewire. I like the look and feel of it, but I just can't figure out how it works, damm it!

I'm looking at one or two options, but I might just swallow my words and go back to KaZaa. It might be infested with spyware, but at least I know how it works.

The only really serious problems I encountered with KaZaa was when I used my AdAware sofware to get rid of all the Cydoor and Brilliant Digital files and keys, KaZaa got its own back on me by stopping working altogether!

I think that LimeWire may well be more trouble than its worth, for all it's bells and whistles. After all, what good is a Porsche Carrera if it won't run properly?

PS. Enjoy your Holiday Weekend - we don't have one in the Uk, at least not this weekend!

UKMitch, before going back to KaZaa, you might check out KaZaaLite...no spyware. It replaces the Cydoor with a harmless file, and the rest of the junk is removed.
