Re-Query - to question again.

LimeWire is searching for the file. The original location(s) are not available (may be off-line or have no free upload slots) so LimeWire sends another (hence "Re") search (hence "query") for the file.

As strange as it may seem either everyone is off-line OR they are too busy to accept another request. Try leaving your system up for a long while... often several of the requery files will be found and downloaded... some days it seems worse than others.

Cool

Hello!

The Requery Sent Waiting for message means that you where unable to make a connection with that host and that it was unreachable at that time.

LimeWire will then make a Requery(search) to find alternate locations for that file(a file with the exact same name and size). However it will only do so once every 45 minutes so if you just let it stay there you will have to wait a very long time sometime even several days before LimeWire downloads it for you.

So what should you do then?

When the status of the Download in the Download window turns to Requery Sent then do a manual search for it by using the exact same search term as the name of that file.If you cannot find it again the first time then just continue to search for it multiple times until you find it.What will happen is that LimeWire will imediatelly as soon as alternate locations is found in the search you just performed attempt to make a connection with that/those hosts. This is indicated by a change of status from Requery Sent to Connecting... if it still was unable to connect then you should continue searching for it and everytime a host that are connectable shows up in the search results comes up it will attempt to connect.Sometimes if the connection attempt was unsuccessfull LimeWire may still be able to sense the presence of that host and the status will change to the Busy signal. If that happens then you should just wait and everytime the seconds reach 0 LW will attempt to make a connection. As long as the Busy signal exist then it means that that host is still there and connectable but is just to busy to connect you directly. If you wait long enough you will get the download.

Another tip to speed up the process of getting LW to change the status from Requery Sent to the Busy signal(Which is much better) is to make a note of that hosts IP number and then switch to the Connections window and here in the add host area type in that IP number and then click Add.LW will now connect to that host.

Now you should delete the File in the Downlaod area which has the Requery Sent status and then from the search result list try to once again connect to the same host as before and if you are lucky you will now have the same file in your Download are but in the Busy status instead which greatly increases your chance of getting that file.

Default requery

..so the requery function is mearly a cosmetical function?

another thing I can't understand:

does the requery's get limited by the MAX_PARALELL_SEARCHES
or does it operate on it's own account, being allowed to flood the network when ever?

When you restart LW with a bunch of things in your download-list,
it will most likely requery all those items at once, with the same timeout. Does LW handle all that in a NON-DoS manner, or does it spew it all out at once?

I think it's a requery among your downloads in waiting every 45 minutes. So one file in requery means a requery for that file every 45 minutes. With eight files in requery a particular file gets a requery every six hours and the other seven fill in the remaining 45 minute spots (8 files * 45 minutes = 360 minutes).

That's not what the GUI appears to do (300 second countdowns per file) so maybe someone can clarify.

Hi,

Why should we have to do this manually? Shouldn't LW go through these steps for us?
