My files say they are "Downloading" but stay at zero!!

I have been running Limewire 2.4 on Mac OSX for quite a while and never had any problems until a few days ago. Now, when I try to download files it says that they are downloading, but the progress bar won't budge and it stays at 0 kb. Does anyone know what's up or having similar problems? PLEASE HELP!!! I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks, Blondie

zero progress

I am having the same problem it can be downloading for days and moves about 2k if at all - I am pissed off because it has started happening just after paying for the damn thing ! I am also running OSX. I know it's not the registered version that is the cause though because I'm running the ad version on OS 9 with the same result.
I'm running cable modem

no movement on the prog. bar

I've had the same problem with the progress bar not moving. If you go to the library (incomplete) you will see it progressing..just click the refresh button

Hello!

I am using the Mac version of LW 2.4.4 and I have noticed this bug to.The download speed stays at zero and also the progress percentage bar but I can still see that the file inside the incomplete folder are growing and then suddenly all of a sudden the progress bar went up to 100% whitin a second or two and then it says it is complete. This has happened to me about 3-4 times and I have no clue to why it is behaving in that way sometimes but since I know atleast that I have a connection to that host that I am downloading from I do not kill the download and just let it stay there and eventually I will have the file.Just be patient. But if this are happening to you always then something must be wrong and I would suggest that you try to re install LW if that does not work then downgrade to previous version and see if that helps.

It sounds like there may be a couple of problems here. Joakim says that LimeWire reports no progress, than instantly jumps to 100%. This indeed sounds like a bug. Does it say "downloading from N hosts" before it completes? What's N?

blondie11979: I can't tell if you're getting the same bug or just bad luck with really slow uploaders. How many hosts is LimeWire downloading from? Are you getting "0.0 KB/s" or just really small values? Can you see progress in the Incomplete directory? (Unfortunately LimeWire if LimeWire is filling in "holes" in the middle of an incomplete file, the reported size on disk won't change.)

In my incomplete folder the files say that maybe 2 or 3 kb have downloaded, but no more than that. I haven't tried waiting to see if jumps to 100%. I am pretty sure that it has been downloading from numerous hosts at once. Sometimes 5 or 6, but I really am not sure. do you have any advice besides installing an older version?
Thsnks for everyone's prompt responses,

I wanted to let you know that I went to the page where you can select which version to download and I do not see an older version, like 2.3 that I could convert back to. How do I find a previous version? I think I would like to try to do that since nothing else seems to be working.
Thanks,

I am having the same problem. Progress stays at zero. Also, in the library the incomplete folder says zero too. What a shame!!

I used to be able to download, nothing now!

Two days ago I downloaded two songs from Limewire. It took me two more days to find
a player that would work with a Mac OS 8.6. I got the two songs loaded into the player and
they work fine. My problem now is Limewire won't let me download anything. It lets me search,
click on the song title, but then states it's "already downloading", but no progress is shown
where it usually is. I let it run for quite awhile 30 min. or better, but to no avail. no download.

Help! I'm new to this and would like help.

Re: no movement on the prog. bar

To "Unregistered" at 06-13-2002 05:24 PM:

Once in a while, one or more of the uploading progress bars will stay at 0Kb/s for a long time.

I eventually decide to kill it. I wonder if no progress here is related to the no movement on the progress indicators on some downloads.

Trying to kill an upload is like playing "Whack-a-mole". What with the list dancing all over the place... Trying to click on an apparently stalled upload then clicking Kill Upload before the list renders the line item unselected - whew!
