can't play movies The download goes fine, but when I try to launch the files, an error message appears with a message saying that the file is destroyed... Any ideas ? Also.....as an ignorant new user....what are the risks of downloading a trojan horse virus from one of the movies ? Thanx |
How many times did that happen? It probably was a corrupted file. Just delete and try again. There are some damaged files out there so if you d/l the same one again, try a different host if it's available. Sometimes though you just have to give up on a certain file. I've been trying to get a certain game for the last month. D/l ed it from a dozen different sources on this and another gnutella client. And everytime I try to install it, it's damaged. So....As far as viruses, yes it's possible to bring one home with any download. Make sure that you have an updated antivirus program running at all times. And scan regularly. As far as trojan horses, download "The Cleaner" from www.moosoft.com. They have a 30 day free trial. Good luck. |
Thanks so much for the help...very useful. One last question.....advice....some of the files are .avi files.....which driver should i download to view them ? Nils |
I use either Realplayer or Windows Media Player to view .avi files. Try one or the other. If they don't play the file, make sure that you have them configured to play .avi's. You do that from the preferences area of each player. it's something like "associate file types". If that doesen't work you might have to download a codec. There is more info on that in this forum. |
