**Why does it say " Could Not Move to Library" under status? How can I fix it? It says "Could Not Move to Library" under status when I try to download something. Why does it say this? And how can I fix it???? Thank you! |
illegal characters in file names the problem you described has been traced to file names that contain these characters: \ / : * ? " | < > These are "illegal characters" in Windows & LimeWire won't download these files on any platform. The only solution I know of is to find another file with a file name that does not have any of these characters in the name. I have a Mac & these characters are legal, except for : colon, but the files still won't download. |
A weird thing, for me, was that I a partial download of a video in 2.5.5, but then when I upgraded to 2.6.3 it all of a sudden popped up with "Couldn't move to Library". The title (that I read) does not have any of those characters in it. I am using a Mac also. Strange. |
why not a rename option? I'm running into this problem also. Why can't limewire just allow a rename of the file on download? |
"Can't Move File to Library" I'm getting this with absolutely every file I try to download. Doesn't matter what the file name is. 100% of attempts give this error. Sort of renders the program useless. |
Same Problem Limewire can't move any of my files--regardless of what characters their names contain--to my library, and, for reasons I can't fathom, this is a problem. I really don't care what's in my library--I just want the darn file on my computer. I'm running it on Mac OS X, if that's an issue. |
There is a bug in which LimeWire causes all new downloads to report 'could not move to library'. This is usually resolved by closing LimeWire and restarting it. - It happens only rarely. Some clients seem to cause all the attempted downloads from them to report the error - I have no idea why - there are no obvious illegal characters in the file names. If you have run out of disk space or the download folder has become write protected this may also cause the error. Mark |
