Yes,
This is exactly what I was coming on here to post too!! I thought it was just me. I thought that when I bought the upgrade, that all that would take care of itself, but you know what? It's even worse!!!! I've been trying to download music for 3 weeks and I've only gotten 1 thing. Everything else says Requery. What's up Limewire? I never had this problem with Kazaa, but unfortunately, I can't use that on Mac.

requery!!!!..........?????

requery. requery. requery... The bane of Limewire.

First of all, only run four star searches. The number of search returns will be radically reduced, but the search hits will return from non-firewalled, available upload hosts. If you are running LimeWire with a firewall it is impossible to download from a firewalled upload host. Try running a three star search, then disabling your firewall before attempting a download request. This will allow you to download from a firewalled upload host, if they have enabled their 'force IP'.

Secondly, the best thing that one can do to overcome the insidious 'requery' message is to build up your shared file so that your upload requests will not be denied as a freeloader. This sucks, but it is a great truth. One can request an upload from a four star rating, but be denied because the upload host has set the freeloader denial setting above the number of files possed by the download request. This is not the only reason for 'requery', but I have found that once I was sharing above 400 files, my upload requests were granted (80%) more than denied (20%). Allways keep in mind that there will allways be individuals who maintain a large shared file (returning hits to your search), but have set their upload availability set to zero (requery for you!).

So, get a simple ripper and put together something to offer in your shared file, and make it availalbe. Maybe you can offer something that no one else can, which is the beauty of p2p. Otherwise, everyone simply shares what everyone else allready has.

requeries loop

I know that my problem can't be sharing files--- 400 should be enough, and I never have problems when I limit to my shared folder and only have 25 or 30. So I don't understand why all of a sudden I am getting this requery bermuda-triangle situation. . . the last time LW functioned properly for me ( a few hours ago-- it has been doing this new thing nonstop since) it was doing strange things like moving very slowly and randomly missing pieces of the display. I'd have to constantly move on my trackpad to show progress. otherwise, the screen would pretend-freeze. (look like frozen, but move when I moved.) I've seen a bunch of complaints about the requeries, but no explanations that would fit what I am experiencing, and what I suspect is what the others are describing. Does anyone have any new ideas or things to try?
