Unhappy **Re: Endless Reqerys Again

Just when I thought my luck had changed 4 the better........
Yes, finally after 3-4 weeks, night-after-night of nonstop
searching for a few fav files & only getting 'requerys', instead
of downloads....even though others were enjoying plenty
of uploads....while I was feeling kinda down.....last night, I
found one of THE files-a MIRACLE!

But, today-no matter what I do- 4 ****, cable/dsl &
higher settings....when I search stuff,
it 'appears available'-but, guess what?
No dice-just ENDLESS REQUERYS!?

I still love Limewire... but, after paying 2 times 4 the Pro,
trying zbell's emails' advice.....& still not getting benefits
or useage of Pro.....
& still having to use free version-wondering
WHY so few downloads, ENDLESS 'requerys'?
while @ same time I get nothing-others are enjoying
plenty of uploads....

doen't seem fair

Ta,

Just what exactly is it that you love about Limewire? You keep complaining about requeries, and no music downloaded, but you also keep ending your messages with "I still love Limewire!" Wake up ! Limewire blows. I've never used a more worthless program. I've had it for about 6 weeks now, and you know how many songs I have gotten, with daily usage? 12. Yes, that's right....12 measley songs. That's not even 1 song every 4 days!!!
When I used Audiogalaxy, songs would download in seconds.
I have nothing nice to say about this program, and I wish I didn't waste my 10 bucks on the upgrade version.

Angry Endless Requeries 2

I am having the exact same problem. Can someone give me more of an idea about what might cause this.

No one has a problem taking files off of my computer, but no matter what I search for I get "requery sent." It happens almost immediately. I have worked with the settings according to the manual, but it doesn't seem to change a thing.

How bout a little support.

This is the nature of the network...

A lot of people are trying to download stuff - fewer people are making stuff available for upload. Consequently there is fierce competition for the upload slots out there.

'Requery' means that there are no free upload slots on the clients hosting the file you are trying to download (it can also mean that the client is no longer on the network).

You can search for the file again and find a new host to download from (or perhaps the old host now has a free slot - but it won't be there long).

You can try searching for a different genre or type of file. There may be more hosts or less competition for some files.

Try leaving LimeWire running for a while before doing searches. It takes LimeWire a while to settle on a good set of hosts.

Boy, all I can say is it's pretty sad when a university connection with almost 100,000 files shown and over 100 terrabytes of data can't get a file.

I don't get it... Is it something wrong whith me - ore my computer???
I read nothing but complains about not getting any files... I have been using LW for about a week now - every day, and my experience is nothing but excellent!!!
I get to download about 60%, and I'm quite satisfied whith that.
I've got LimeWire 2.6.5 free version and Windows XP - and it works like a charme

So people... there's hope...
Good luck - good sharing.

Default the evil requery sent message

the claims that the problems with limewire downloads are just due to network traffic jams are nonsense. that doesn't explain why the latest version of limewire suffers from so many more failed downloads than previous versions. the message "requery sent" seems to mean nothing as far as i can tell. the download almost never resumes.

but, there are a couple of things that seem to help with the requery bug:

1. set your preferences for only 4 star results. (i know other people have said this, but it's true.)
2. when you get the requery message, try doing a "repeat search" command. you can find it in a pulldown menu by command-clicking on the tab with the search terms in it (mac). this often resuscitates the dead download. it makes no logical sense, but it often works.

Lightbulb Another Consideration

In addition to the previous poster please consider the following. If you download from a host that has three stars or less. It is likely to be a firewalled host so it has to establish a connection to your machine and essentially send you the file ie (push) it to you.

Now, the push request travels backup the network path to the machine that requested it. If a machine should leave the network along that chain of machines you will get a requery.

For example:

GetFile ===> A ==> B ==> C ==> Firewalled_Host_Files_I_Want
Requery <== A ==(?) <== C == Firewalled_Host_Files_I_Wanted

The connection never makes it back to me so I have to search for it again.

Hope this helps
