Exclamation downloading slows, then stops

I've had this problem occur recently. I'll start a download of a song or some songs, and they'll start downloading beautifully...then the speed will slow, and keep slowing, til it's 0 kb/s. Then it sits there at 0. If I close LimeWire, then restart it, they'll start back up again at full speed...then the die again. Repeat over and over and over...

What's wrong here?

Thanks!

Lightbulb Potential Solution To Problems Downloading

Couple things come to mind when people complain of this:

1. If you are downloading from school or a work location some (schools and work locations) have the administrative ability to choke off p2p traffic by assigning it a very low priority.

So you go to connect you start to transfer the QOS software detects the presence of the p2p traffic and begins applying it's rules (p2p is allocated less and less bandwidth until you lose your connection.)

Keep in mind that it is possible for you to download from a host which has these restrictions and this would make the results the same.

2. If you are downloading from an overloaded host, Common on this type of network as actual Filesharers tend to make up 1% of the sharing nodes on the network then it is possible for you to get a free slot on the remote machine but due to the high number of connections for the limited upload bandwidth, for instance 5 or 6 people uploading over 128 Kbps connection would yeild about 21.3Kbps or as Limewire Reports 2.6KB less if the remote end is dropping packets.

I highly suspect the 1st being the most likely. In either case try downloading from different sources try some different content to see if you experience the same types of problems.

hope this helps.
