Dear Calstylin,

I don't think that the problem is limewire as so much as it is the sources on limewire that you are downloading from.

Hope this helps.

I have tried all sorts of sources. My brother in the other room has dsl and he gets downloads at 100kbs sometimes. I hooked up the dsl to my computer and I got downloads at those speeds. Is there a different setup for broadband connections???

Thats what most people say when they have been scammed. Limewire basic is free. And pro cost $18.88 for pro and 6 months of upgrades you can get them at the link below. If I were you I would contact the site that scammed you and try to get my money back. It would also be a good idea to contact your credit card company and let them know you were scammed and try to get your money back from them.

Good Luck

I do not think you got it orriginally from the offical site there is no $39 dollar charge. LimeWire pro is $18.88 and basic is free. There is a $38.50 charge for the disk. Allot of the sites that scam people send them to the official site to download it after they take there money. Did you buy the disk and did you get pro or basic

Dear Grandpa
Sorry I sent that message because I thought your last post was for me.
I got Limewire from your site and only paid $18.00.
My only problem in that when I us Limewire It slows my computer down so if I use other programs while it is running it takes 30second or longer to react to everything. even the limewire is slow loading taking about 1 1/2 to two minutes. All my downloads are 1-15kbs sometime one will go to 20kbs but never higher. It take me three to four days to get download. I have dsl and I have read some of the earlier posts and has the same problem plus the slow down.
I just don't know what to do up until about four weeks ago limewire worked fine and I could us other programs and the internet while it was running.

Post

Greetings,
We have gone through the 28 pages of posts so far on this thread as well as a few of the linked pages and have found some good answers to questions we had. Definately some good information in this forum. We have the problem when using Limewire that we can''t tell the quality of files downloaded until it is 100% downloaded. This was referred to a couple of times but no solution was offered. I wondered if anyone posts anywhere about the qualities of downloads. We have also been using the mac version of Azureus 2.3.0.2, which we really like. It works very well with the exception that it freezes our system almost every day a few times, requiring a hard restart with no force quits available. Not good! Been searching that forum also... We are on a Mac G4 1.5 MHz with system 10.3.9. The advantage of Azureus is that you can download a torrent after reading the posts on it (for example on demonoid.com (their server is down right now) and seeing that, then it is pretty much guaranteed to be a good file. Never had a bad one. With Limewire you have no guarantee and we just got one of those movie files which is dead and is now stopped at 98% with no sources. We also mistakenly got porno files a couple of times named as applications and videos both. Obviously a total waste of time and bandwidth. So, our question is, how can we determine the quality of a file with some sort of reliability before we download it.

Also we are not sure if it is necessary but the term "forcing the IP" was discussed many times and we do not see this option in the Mac version of Limewire 4.9.4. This seems to be necessary in Azureus but not sure about Limewire.

Are these questions appropriate for this forum?

Thanks
