mpeg/Mac problem When I download some (not all) video clips, I can't play them. I get a message that "some software components needed to play this mpeg are missing", or words to that effect. I'm using a Mac, 9.1, w/Quicktime 6. Again, some clips DO work. Any thoughts? |
As far as I have been able to tell, there's nothing you can do about those files. I think it may be a PC to Mac conflict. I think it's the way the mpeg was encoded or something. I am keeping a folder of what I think may be worthwhile clips until I find a fixer application. |
We had a similar problem with avi files. QuickTime doesn't speak avi. You need an avi player for Mac -- we are using Stimulus which I downloaded from Tucows. BUT: you will still have trouble with DivX avi files. These will run like silent moves. To solve this use a utility called DivX Validator, probably also available from Tucows. Hope this helps |
