"Transfer Interrupted" Problem????????

Thanks to Leeware, I finally found out how to get my files to showup for others to attempt to upload from me. The problem I now have is that I get several attempts from others to upload from me, but then after 1% or 2% has completed, it terminates with a "transfer interrupted". I have never had a complete upload.

I have done a search on "transfer interrupted", and read everything on the LW BBs, some of which I understand, and some of which I don't. I am not behind a personal firewall, and I use a dial up modem.

The only conclusion I have at this point is that others cancel their downloads from me after they see how slow it is. I can only connect at 28.8 , as I live in a rural area where cable or DSL is not available. I currently am trying to share over 700 files, so I am not a freeloader.

I leave LW running for hours not downloading myself, but when I return I find several others have tried to upload from me with "transfer interrupted" results.

Can anyone please help?

 :(

Update Additional Info On My Problem Above

I just sit hear and watched 3 different attempts to upload, which ended with "Transfer Interrupted".

I watched the 4th person attempt an upload from me 35 times according to the 1/35 "Uploads" column in my library before it was finally completed. That is the first "Complete" I have ever got. The funny thing is that on the "Monitors" page "Upload" part it indicates that it was "75KB" Completed. That seems very strange to me considering the file being uploaded was 2.7MB in size.

Can anyone shed any light on this for me?

It's fairly likely that your conclusions are correct as some people do abort their transfers when they realize that the host they are downloading from can only deliver the file at a very slow rate.

Also try to keep in mind that many of the retries you see could be result of your connection timing out during the file transfer. The remote end is reconnecting in attempting to transfer.

Hope this helps.

OK LeeWare, Thanks!

Thank you for your reply.

I specialize in Oldies, and I have a lot, so it is a shame I can't share them more easily with others. I run all my mp3 d/ls thru SoundJam Converter to make sure they are in good shape before putting them in my sharing folder.

Guess I will just have to make due until DSL is available in my area.

Thanks Again. :D

Newer LimeWire versions display the size of the file requested in the Monitor screen. When the upload starts again less of the file needs to be downloaded. In your Upload part the closer sizes are to the actual file size the less the connection is cutting off, either accidental or intentional.
