What does "queued" mean?

every time i try and download a song, the status says that it is "queued." what does this mean? This is recent; it didn't happen before. Now, every song that i download says queued and it won't download. HELP! What's going on?

patnb2002 February 10th, 2003 10:43 PM

You're in line with others for it. Sorry, you'll have to be patient.

bubbafish52525 February 12th, 2003 03:28 PM

I HAVE BEEN WAITING THE WHOLE WEEK FOR A REPLY. I WOULD LIKE AN ANSWER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. YOU ARE BEING UNPROFESSIONAL WITH NOT GETTING ANSWERS BACK TO PEOPLE. I HAD EXPECTED BETTER SERVICE FROM YOU.

patnb2002 February 12th, 2003 03:34 PM

Hey, I have nothing to do with Limewire - I'm a customer same as you are and was only trying to give an opinion in answer to your problem. Of course I understand your frustration but don't take it out on me.

Julie Z February 12th, 2003 11:50 PM

Wow! A 3 day week?? Nice!!;)

Not to mention that you had a reply in one day!

patnb2002 February 13th, 2003 09:56 PM

Hi Julie Z. He should also go to FAQ - I'm sure it's mentioned there.

dawgawn February 14th, 2003 08:10 AM

As witty as "Julie Z" and "patnb2002" are... you failed to address the real issues "bubbafish52525" was trying to raise. He said, when referrring to 'requery', "This is new, it didn't happen before. What's going on?"

As for his yelling back when he never got the response he'd hoped for... I have to admit LimeWire has a way of bringing my darker side to the fore, as well. "bubbafish52525" made the mistake of clicking on the LimeWire Help button in the program and thinking the forum he was connected to was a LimeWire Support team. Not all that illogical a deduction, when you think about it.

As for the response, "You'll just have to be patient"... maybe not all that helpful either. Simply being patient is not a guarantee that you will finally be successful. More often than not, patience only leads to you being unexpectedly disconnected from the network or the file being partially downloaded and then disappearing into the nether world... never to be seen or heard again.

So, cut poor "bubbafish52525" some slack. Frustration is about the only thing you are guaranteed to download successfully with LimeWire.

patnb2002 February 14th, 2003 08:49 AM

Am hereby giving bubbafish some slack. Sorry BUBBA. As for darkside: I was admonished by a person at Limewire for writing my complaint in capital letters, told that indicated I was yelling and he wouldn't help if I did that. I was told to uninstall Limewire and reinstall it. I did this then when I signed in again I got that message asking if I wanted LimewirePro now or later. Grrrrrrr to Limewire.

Julie Z February 14th, 2003 09:02 AM

Wow, dawgawn, "witty"? Thanks! A little humor now and then is needed around here. We can't get much else from LimeWire these days.

patnb2002 was correct in saying to "be patient". That's all anyone can do right now until things get fixed. And if bubbafish did search around for some answers, that's what he/she would find.

And, he/she would find that this is just a place for other users as frustrated as him/her to come and try to obtain help. It doesn't always happen. But, ususally someone can help.

There's never an excuse for "yelling". Even if it was three days -- er -- I mean -- a "whole week". And never mind that it was only one day to get a correct reply. He/she may not have liked the reply, but it was correct.

Read some of the thread "GUESS in 2003 or 2004" in the "LimeWire Beta Program" forum (I'm not trying to be sarcastic here really.) It's interesting (sort of) to read the discussion of the whole gnutella community and the problems right now. It's also why I haven't even run LW in a month or so. I'm just as frustrated as everyone else. I just come here and try to help when I can and throw in a few "witty remarks" (that not everyone appreciates ;) ) now and then. I try to learn what I can, too, for myself.

dawgawn February 14th, 2003 09:18 AM

I am humbled in your presence. I guess I just saw a little of myself in Big Bubba's frustration imbued rant. I am all for wit... especially when it comes wrapped in wisdom.

patnb2002 February 14th, 2003 01:07 PM

I wonder if Bubba has read any of our posts. Maybe he/she gave up and has been to HMV to buy music instead of flagellating him/herself with Limewire.

dawgawn February 14th, 2003 03:06 PM

re: I wonder if Bubba has read any of our posts. Maybe he/she gave up...

Please... do you think it's possible Bubba is a 'she'?? If that's the moniker she chose for herself then, maybe there is something to your self-flagellation theory.

patnb2002 February 14th, 2003 03:29 PM

Very, very funny. I thought of that. Then it occurred to me that maybe it's a nom de plume...

dawgawn February 14th, 2003 03:51 PM

Methinks... if she had to choose a 'nom de plume' then Trixie or "Bubbles' or even 'Julie Z' would serve better than 'Bubba'. But, mine is not to question blah, blah, blah.

Don't you wish Bubba was as concerned about this as we are?

bubbafish52525 February 14th, 2003 04:54 PM

For your information, I am a girl. And I was patient....I just never got an answer. No, I did not give up on you guys....I just forgot to check the post for a couple says. So can you just tell me what "queued" means???

Thank you -

Bubbafish (a girl)

dawgawn February 14th, 2003 05:08 PM

simply... it means yer in a line-up and you have to wait until everyone ahead of you is served before you have any hope of even beginning yer download.

That's the bad news... there is no good news

patnb2002 February 14th, 2003 06:31 PM

Well Bubba, I certainly accept your apology for yelling at me the way you did.
As Gawgone said: you've got to be patient the same we have to be.

bubbafish52525 February 14th, 2003 10:42 PM

Oh man - I just read over what you had said in the first place, and I guess I thought you meant something else, so that's why I thought you hadn't answered my question, and I'm so sorry! I didn't realize that what you said about that I was in line was about the queued part - I thought you meant that about that you guys were full with questions or something, and you wanted me to be patient and then you would answer. I guess I got a bit mixed up - sorry Patnb2002. I thought you meant something else. So when you say that I have to wait, how long will it be until I am served and am able to download it?

Thanks and sorry for the confusion -

bubba

patnb2002 February 15th, 2003 03:43 AM

Ah Bubba, welcome to the world of Limewire. I wish I could answer that question. I have NEVER been successful in downloading a queued file nor a requery one. So I try again and again - sometimes lucky. Someone recommended Bearshare but I have a mac computer and it's only good for pc's. Maybe our good friends Julie and Dawg can be more helpful.

dawgawn February 15th, 2003 08:58 AM

re: So when you say that I have to wait, how long will it be until I am served and am able to download it?

I believe I read somewhere, "There is no good news"

patnb2002 February 15th, 2003 09:05 AM

I'm confused. Isn't that what YOU wrote:
simply... it means yer in a line-up and you have to wait until everyone ahead of you is served before you have any hope of even beginning yer download.

That's the bad news... there is no good news

Julie Z February 15th, 2003 09:24 AM

I thought of something last night. I think I come here too much, because I thought of it while I was trying to go to sleep! :p

Anyway, have you looked at the Connection Tab to see if you're connected? Sometimes when I start LimeWire, all my downloads will say queued. Then after connecting to a few hosts, they will either start downloading or go to requery. But if they all say queued, then I think it's more than just waiting in line.

And in the newer versions, doesn't it usually tell you where you are in line if you are actually "in line"?

Anyway, just a thought.

If it never changes and you are connected, you may want to try rolling back to an older version. I think people had the least problems with 2.7.13. And in the thread I mentioned on the first page of this thread, the guys are discussing how bad Gnutella is right now. Nobody is having much success downloading these days.

If you want to try an older version, here's a link to all the older versions. I would recommend 2.7.13.

No guarantees, though, on successful downloading! ;)

Good luck, bubbafish.

thank you. I will try that.

Julie Z February 16th, 2003 12:03 AM

Good luck, Brooke. Let us know how it goes.

just for the record: I have seen some queued files start downloading. Not many, but it has happened.

every time i go to download an image i can not find it when it is done!!!!! where the hell is it ??

mjin March 4th, 2003 12:46 PM

queue because there is limited download slot in limewire, if it hits the limite, it will be put in a queue.

true illusions April 18th, 2003 04:37 AM

no offence but if its that urgent there are these great - oh-so ueseful things called dictionary's. I cant believe u dont know what queued means. Come now, if u "queue" up in line, ur waiting for someone else to finish before it is ur turn right? consider now that perhaps this definition also expands to cover that of songs, waiting in line to be downloaded. The song is queueing, preparing itself, awaiting for the signal to download. Seriously, get off the net and buy a book, - I suggest the oxford dictionary.
