Awesome!! The real thing!! messages

Can someone explain why I keep getting strange lists when I try to locate stuff. I can search for a particular artist (music) and get a list of the searched for's name. Against each name is a label such as (the real thing!!) or (AWESOME) or (please share).
These files are mp3s, either 19kB or 302kB, and once downloaded do nothing of course (they're too small).

This is happening constantly and the style of list remains the same no matter what artist I tap in. Can anyone help?

find out the ip address of said files and ban it with your firewall or limewire itself
i don't know what it is u r D/L but it's probably not good

and it's a pain when you are looking for similar sized files

Thanks for the help but...How do you find the url and ban it from Limewire???

Regards
John

the way I did it was to download a 368kb .exe file and write down the

I.P address (You may have to be Quick)

then go to my shared dolder and binned the file and flushed it

no more dodgy files for a while :-)

If you are using Mac, you can control-click on one of the columns (Name, #, Quality, etc...) and a menu will pop up. Choose to show Location (and whatever else you want to show in results). This will show the IP of each file.

On PC, it's right-click.

Whenever these files pop up (there are alot of them), go to Tools, Options, Filters, Hosts and enter the IP addresses in the block host window.

the next version will also let you right-click on the bogus result and choose 'block host'. thank trap_jaw for that. ;)

Thanks everyone, I've managed to find the IP address, **.***.***, but as far as getting rid of it from my system I have no idea. Julie suggested the Tools menu but all I have there is Statistics!!! I use a Mac with Limewire Pro.

Help!!!

On OSX, the "options" are under the Limewire>Preferences, just to the right of the Apple Menu.

Other IP's have been posted in these forums--search for "awesome" to see others.

Awesome! etc

I think I've stopped it by adding the IP address to my banned list in Limewire Preferences. It's **.***.***.***. Hope this helps, but really Limewire ought to police and ban rogue addresses.

the version with right-click ban host in the search window:
