With new limewire, the file uploading size is 98k sometimes looking from my uploading windows although the real file size is much bigger. Does it chop the file in pieces and what's the benefit?

The benefit is that if another host tells the host you are downloading from where else the file is available, you will be informed almost instantly.

Besides, it makes the implementation of swarming easier.
