dre April 29th, 2003 09:43 AM

me too

ever since I downloaded the new version it's been happening to me too. Either all I get is could not download or file is corrupted. Out of about a hundred songs downloaded, only two weren't corrupted. Does anyone know y or how to fix this annoying problem?

I just fixed the "awaiting sources" thingy by restarting the program, now THIS starts! will some administrator reply?

I'm having the same problems. this thing sucks. I've tryed everything to make it work and no support .I'm not spending a dime on this to upgrade! I am disappointed and super frustrated. What a huge waste of my time.

file corrupted

About 85% of the downloads I try are now
"file corrupted" and of course this only happens after the download is complete but prior to saving. HELP !!

FILE CORRUPTED !!!

Does anyone have a solution? How often should I re-install hoping that a solution has been programmed in to new update?

If I buy limewire Pro; will that solve this issue? Or will I have any support?

file corrupted

ugh! i haven't reinstalled or upgraded, but it is happening to me too. does anyone know if mac osx users can use kazaa? i looked on the site, but couldn't find anything about compatability. it seems that if someone had an answer to this problem, they would have posted it. i am not about to buy limewire pro, only to find that it doesn't work either. i was using this version successfully for about three months. ANNOYING!

I know how to stop all this

Download one song at a time. Ever since I've done that, no corruptions. I know it takes forever guys but hey try it it works.

Same Problem

This started happening to me when I upgraded to OSX 10.2.6. (File corrupted) It may just be a coincidence but I had not heard it mentioned. I get corruptions even when I do one file at a time. (I think.) Anyway..Is this happening to Windows users as well. Are all the Mac Users running 10.2.6, because I was loving LimeWire/Gnutella until I upgraded.

Thanks...Jim

I'm having the same problem. Have you found out why this happens?

I'm running MAC OS 10.2.6. The corrupted file message also appears when I download only 1 song at a time. Often it stops at 99%, and when you click "yes" (you want to continue download), the downloaded file disappears in digital nirwana. I'M really curious to hear whether Windows users go through the same, or whether it's only the MACs.
It really sucks...

I have 10.2.6, and I've never encountered that problem.

wonderwall June 8th, 2003 06:56 PM

file corrupted!!!!!!

I also have mac 10.2.6 and almost every file i download comes up as corrupted!?!? Is this some type of program glitch or something???

Any suggestions, or should I just boycot limewire and stop wasting my time!?

Blackbird June 8th, 2003 07:20 PM

My immediate guess is pure coincidence. I mean, if it's "almost every" file, than it's not a permanent, consistent glitch. It's inconsistent. I'd suggest to continue to download, and see if you're luck improves. It could be that you've just been unlucky in your downloads. Come back after a couple more downloads and tell us what happened.

David91 June 8th, 2003 11:55 PM

Hmmm

OK, I'm running LW2.9.11 on OS10.2.6 and I have not seen any increase in the number of files flagged as corrupted. Whenever I see the warning, I always continue to the end and test the quality of the download. As we are always dealing with old copyright-free material, there can be many "faults" in the quality of the recordings. Hence, I take a pragmatic view. During my period of Limewire use, I think I have discarded about a dozen as "this would drive me insane if I tried to listen to this again" files. The vast majority of those flagged have only a few minor blemishes. Those which have more intrusive faults, I remove from the sharing folder to prevent spreading the "problem" further downstream (we all do that, don't we?!?). The others I leave for others to share (sorry about that but, since folks are getting what I offer without payment, they cannot expect the same uniformly high quality as from a purchased product, now can they?!?).

Thanks for the response. I understand that LimeWire/Gnutella requires a certain amount of “Baby Sitting”, but can say with %100 certainty that the problem I “And apparently others” are experiencing is a new one. I have been using LimeWire via OSX, for over a year, and have been able to download music files in quantity with few if any corrupted files. Last week I started getting consistent corrupted files. “I mean every file!” "And they disapear into oblivian, no matter how I choose to deal with them". Something has changed! Either with the latest version of LimeWire or my system. (I am leaning towards my system). Another user suggested repairing permissions which I did reluctantly. “Must admit that performance did seem to increase” However the same problems appear. I really have no answers, but here are some consistencies:

1 If I download 1 file at a time I have no problems. (Noted by another Post..Thanks)
2 If I download 2, files, the first will download without a problem, but the second will be corrupt.
3 After that 99% of all files I download will be corrupt until I reboot and go back to “one file at a time.”

You know, I appreciate the fact that this (The LimeWire Network) is a good thing, and am willing to accept the shortcomings of the platform. (Downloading one file at a time is not that bad) The frustration comes when something that works well stops working well. Still searching…Jim

horseshoemj June 19th, 2003 09:19 PM

I've had the same recent problem

EVERY file is corrupted. This is a problem that began only a few days ago, up until then I could download several files at a time. it is very frustrating. Would somebody at Limewire PLEASE explain the problem??

Blackbird June 19th, 2003 09:24 PM

Ok, people, i'm not Limewire, but I can help. If it's a version change, I would advocate switching to jum's build of Limewire, which can be found at http://baghira.han.de/~jum/. Jum's version seems to fix many common OS X bugs. Perhaps it'll fix this one.

Jobu July 3rd, 2003 01:07 AM

That build of limewire does nothing to solve the file-corrupt problems. It seems as though the Limewire folk have run into a problem with compatibility for 10.2.6. Oh well, hopefully they'll catch up to speed before they lose all of us to morpheus or kazaa when they come out with their mac versions....

Blackbird July 3rd, 2003 08:27 AM

Wrong jobu. you are correct in saying that Limewire has some problems with OS X. Jum's build of Limewire for OS X is different from the main build that Limewire gives out, and may fix the problem.

I've run both the LW build and Jum's build on OS 10.2.6 and I have no problems like you describe.

File Corrupted

I'm sorry to see it's not just me. Any word?I haven't "downloaded" in a week.

Jobu July 7th, 2003 04:30 AM

Yes but Blackbird, - did you have the "file corrupt" problems on Limewire's build before you switched to the other build of Limewire? I tried the other build and see the same problems. What issues does the other build solve for OSX?

I contacted Limewire's Adam Fisk, and he says they have not been able to reproduce these issues! If you guys can add any info, email him at: afisk@limepeer.com

Blackbird July 7th, 2003 08:20 AM

I never found this problem. Well, the Jum build doens't fix everything, but it reduces the CPU load, thet memory load, and a bunch of GUI bugs that can cause LW to crash.

The Limewire team has been aware of this issue for a while.

However, the error isn't a fatal. Worst case scenario, you get the message every time, you press "Yes" you want to keep on downloading it, and there you go. You get the file, listen to it/open it and listen or examine to see if it's corrupt. If it is corrupt, trash it, if it isn't, you got yourself a file.

MisfitJim July 7th, 2003 05:11 PM

Even if I press yes I want to save it, the file is not saved. It disappears. It is not in my standard download file or in the incomplete folder. I checked my LimeWire prefs, and do not see anything that would cause the file to disappear. Still bummed.

Jim
