Default All folders "invalid" to save to

I was running LW 2.9.8 on WinXP when suddenly the save destination folder changed and I can't reset it. All folders became invalid somehow. Final move was to uninstall with the wizard and then download LW 2.9.11.

When I restarted LW all my preferences were still set and the few files I had left in my shared folder before Uninstall were still there. I thought that odd. Then the same "save destination" issue came up.

Using Win Explorer I deleted the folder that LW was chosing for a destination, but it STILL showed up in browsing in the LW software.

I've read some threads touching on this, but no solid thoughts on what's up. I'm not hip on "work arounds" every other day. The best comment I read was that this seems like a bug placed by a third party to disable use. If so, how could I uninstall/delete to get behind the bug and start from ground zero?
