Not a computer Genius, Tired of "Awaiting Responses"

I've spent utold hours trying to read all this junk about the "threads" and change this setting and change that setting! I've HAD it. I've read the responses from Blackbird and everyone else... Look, I'm not a computer genius, I don't even understand half this stuff. I used to use Napster quite easily, no problems, type in the name of my song and it downloaded. Then came Morpeus, same thing - pretty easy. Then...Limewire, my boyfriend stuck with the basic and is having WAY better luck than I am with the PAID Limewire Pro! I'm getting VERY upset. I purchased the Pro about 3 months ago and have had to download 3 updates and I have only been able to download about 8 songs to completion! I CONSISTENTLY get the AWAITING RESPONSES garbage. Could someone PLEASE tell me in PLAIN and simple English in very DETAILED steps HOW to get this ****ed thing to work or give me a FULL refund for it as it has NOT functioned properly and I see MANY people having dificulty with it? Thank you. Kathy Please send response to:******

Alright, tips for downloading...

Downloads, in any application, have to be managed. If you want to download "Song - Artist", and you search, and immediately click on teh first result you see, you might not get it. Waiting and letting the search complete will give you more results from more reliable uploaders, as well as multiple results. I would recommend always downloading from a file with multiple results, and set multiple files to be grouped together, so you can see if they occur.

I have tried most of the things you suggest with no luck. I will try the others and see if they help. But, it still doesn't answer the question: why didn't this problem occur until I got the Pro version? Pop-ups are a pain, but at least I got songs.

By the way, Mr Peerless, what difference does it make whether badkittykat posted as a guest or not?

I don't know why your problem seemed to come up when u installed pro. Probably coincidental and something else was changed on your system.

Try doing a clean install, if it really bothers you.

Next version (3.4) will introduce the "find more sources" button.

My prayers have been answered. No more having to answer "Awaiting Sources" threads.

Is limewire going to do this by remembering one's search terms that were used to find the file and when the button is pressed it would search again using the same search terms as before to find more sources that are sharing a file of the same hash or is it going to search by the file's name and resume from anyone who returns a file with the same hash of the file that one is trying to resume?

As I recall, hash queries have been banned from gnutella due to the overwhelming amount of traffic.

LimeWire will search by filename until they have added a DHT. A distributed hash table would be a great christmas present for LimeWire's users (if one of the developers is reading this). Gnutella could be the first filesharing network to have a DHT that really works (unlike the one Overnet uses).

As a little old grandad who is absolutely astonished at all of this,(my son set it up for me), I am just delighted to have received some downloads. I suspect the 'peers' have just got fed up with me asking for more, like Oliver, nand doing everything wrong, so everything has slowed to a crawl, and I even get 'freezes, but I will persevere. Having missed out on the sixties, ( Iwas too busy working in a factory and helping her indoors to bring up the kids), I amreally pleased at getting an insight into what's going on today.
