Acquiring license? Help! Please?

Hello. Thanks for helping a new guy.

I have some mpgs downloaded, but when I try to play them, my machine tells me it is 'acquiring license', and then it doesn't play. When I first downloaded movies, it acquired the license, then I hit play, and after a brief bit of popup hell, the movies played. Now, the license is never acquired, and the play button is grayed out.

Are these files junk, or can I somehow see them?

TIA,

Vespadaddy

acquiring license...

Nope,
Using windows media player (sorry, I'm on a windoze machine).

I don't get a codec error message, but I'll try downloading the codecs anyway.

Any other thoughts? I assume this may be a measure of protection used by movie studios to prevent file sharing. Perhaps it is another 'feature' of XP?

Any other ideas?

Thanks!

I also received a popup to aquire license, which I did and everything worked fine. My question is; is this a good idea? Will it send up any red flags? Should I refuse to aquire license and download again from a different source? I use mediaplayer 10 and WINXP....

If I d/l something and it requires a License. It goes straight to the trash bin and deleted.

It is bad news. When you get the License they get information about you.

This subject has been discussed before. search upper right -- License --- for more info.
