correcting my settings for maximum download speed
 

hi there,i'm kinda new to this so i'll try and keep the stuff i post nice and brief so as not to annoy anyone.

basically i need to know how to get my 56k modem to run at it's most efficient as i can't afford broadband right now.

i heard that u can slightly improve you're connection speed by correctly setting up things like port speeds and proxy settings so that u aren't bottle necking the connection or whatever.

as you have probably realized i haven't much knowledge about this stuff so i thought that you guys could maybe help out by telling me what u know on the subject.
