sorry--leechers are a real drain and pain on the network, and those sites you listed further the problem.

As for a LW credit system, it's not documented explicitly. In fact, it's the first I've heard of it under those terms. Good idea though. LW has always made it easy for newbies to get started, and although in the options there is a way to limit freeloaders, I heard it was disabled.

This is what I ment... eMule has a credit system - sorry. :)

Its disabled? Why? Gnutella becomes more and more freeloader friendly... I know why I am using eMule as my main client...

but there is hope I read in the GDF they are discussing partial file sharing, so all users would share at least the files they are currently downloading... this would increase the speed of the network very much and would (almost) solve the freeloader problem.

for the record, PFS can be disabled too in LW. Sigh, but PFS sure works well to get fairly popular or recent files--look at how fast recent Superbowl stuff spread on gnutella

Much as I dislike deliberate leechers, beginners are welcome. I detest programs that would force users to share before they've had a chance to decide.

Anyway, distributed computing is still in its infancy, and I'm getting way off topic. I'll see if I can look up that bit about freeloading settings being disabled.

i found how to
in tool/option\advanced\preferencing

you can limit who is able to connect to you, based on the number of flies they share

.iso file what is it

what a .iso file and how do you read that type of file

trap_jaw4 February 8th, 2004 01:50 PM

It's a CD Image. You'll probably need some CD burning software like NERO to use it.

Morgwen February 8th, 2004 04:22 PM

You can open a .iso file with daemon tools, if you donīt want to burn the file:
