Default Incomplete Downloads Re-starting from Zero!

I recently started Limewire (v.3.8.5) and realized that all of my partial downloads were missing from the download list for some reason, so I went to the library and resumed them all. But now it says 0% for the progress of all of them, even though some of them had previously reached 80 or 90%! I can verify this because when I look at the files in my incomplete folder, it lists some of them as being 3 or 4MB, even though Livewire shows them starting back from zero.

It seems that partial files in my incomplete folder remain untouched until Limewire re-connects and attempts to continue downloading them. At that point, the partial files are erased-- no matter how big they are-- and they start downloading again from scratch! I've been able to duplicate this problem several times in a row.

How can I make my downloads continue from where they left off as they've always done in the past?? The program's useless if I have to download everything in one sitting!

LimeWire should always resume your incomplete downloads. In a few cases where your computer crashes or you exit LimeWire forcefully, LimeWire might not always save your incomplete downloads correctly and has to resume them at the beginning.

Default resuming incomplete downloads

But this isn't an isolated case where my computer has crashed or I've exited Limewire forcefully. The program is re-starting my downloads every time exit it now. I'll watch a file download until the indicator reads 10 or 11%, then I exit Limewire, and when I start it again, that same download begins again from zero! I've restarted my computer several times, and this is still happening, so it appears to be some sort of permanent bug or corrupt file (perhaps the downloads.bak or downloads.dat file in the incomplete folder?).

Maybe I'll just try uninstalling and then re-installing the program. But will there be any way to resume the partial files that I've downloaded even once I've re-installed a fresh copy of Limewire, or are the possibly corrupt download.bak and download.dat files table of contents references to the rest of the files in the incomplete folder without which my downloads can't resume from where they left off?

Does anyone understand what I'm asking?

Try choosing a different save directory and/or try deleting your incomplete directory and let LimeWire create a new one. For some reason it doesn't seem able to write your downloads.dat/bak file. (If that was corrupted, LimeWire would show you a message that it couldn't resume your downloads).

I've chosen a different directory, and I've also deleted the incomplete folder and forced Limewire to re-create it, but to no avail. This problem just doesn't seem to go away.

As I just closed Limewire, and I got the following error message: "Javaw has caused an error in KERNEL43.DLL. Javaw will now close."

Might this have something to do with my problems?

Another question: Since it seems like I've tried everything else, I'm trying to just remove Limewire from my system and then re-install it, but I'm not even able to do that successfully! The program doesn't seem to have an uninstall utility, and nothing seems to happen when I try uninstalling it via Add/Remove Programs. I could physically delete the directory containing the program, but what is it listed as in my registry so I can remove it from there as well? I don't see anything that seems relevant.

Default I gave up

I never did figure out a solution. Since I posted this message, I eventually gave up on Limewire and started using a different P2P program called Soulseek. I'm much happier with it, it doesn't have any spyware, and I have much more luck finding more obscure music.

Oh good on you! So you don't need any help after all. Yes there's techniques (more than one) for removing LW. And by the way, LW doesn't have spyware since dos know when. Not unless you want to call the help link or startup upgrade to pro spyware. Spyware is a load of crap sometimes. Try it on the top 1+ grand pro apps & check your results. Check the LW history to see for yourself: http://www.limewire.com/english/cont..._history.shtml
