Need More Sources

Help! Everytime I try to download a song, they always say "Need more sources." I am running Limewire 4.5 on a iMac G3 9.2.2

Why and how can I fix this?

Thanks a bunch!! :)

Anybody?

It can't just be 3 people...I mean...seriously...
Can we get alil support here?

Scoot June 3rd, 2004 11:52 AM

I have emailed the support twice but have never gotten a reply back.

I really did like Limewire up until I found out that there was no support.

I paid for the Pro and now I can't even use it! In fact, I have bought Limewire Pro for me, my husband and my daughter. Mine works and my husband's work but my daughter's computer, which used to be mine: iMac G3 system 9.2.2, doesn't work. It always says "Need More Sources".

What good are these forums, if no one can help with the problem.

Here I have paid THREE TIMES for the same program because I didn't want to feel like I was cheating them and I can't get ANY support. It's not right! :(

Alright...maybe this is the problem

I'm willing to bet you all have firewalls. Goto Options>Advanced>Firewall

Then choose to force your ip...it works for me...(actually, it worked b4 I did that but I believe that was the issue)

Keep me posted on if it worked err not

Ahhhhh

hey guys yeah me is having the same problem, what the hell is going on?? it used to be amazing but this is all i ever get, i don't want to switch to something else cause i paid for this.

there must be someone who knows

oh yeah and i've completely disabled my firewall and still nothing, even when it's on it's set to allow all anyway!

This seems to be a major problem. What do you do if only one person has the file you are looking for? I ran a little test and found that the download never takes place. As long as there is one source, the download should activate. How else will the p2p network spread the file?

need more sources is a huge problem: too many people find it easier to take, but fewer do the work needed to give back.

The 'one source' is probably overloaded with requests and is refusing any more. Poor fella.

As long as people don't bother to set up their machines to "accept incoming connections" there will be "need more sources" problems. There are efforts to code for firewall-to-firewall transfers, but for now . . . Telestrial's advice to force ip is correct.

Can your setup accept incoming? Less than a third of users can. see the red lines on http://www.limewire.com/english/content/netsize.shtml

To find out if you can, see Preferences (OSX) or Tools->Options under bug reports. If it says TRUE, congrats--your machine is not part of the problem.
