20508 kb?

Why are .avi,mpg downloads stopping at 20508 KB? Is this all you can get if your not sharing enough?

OS => XP Pro
LW => 4.0.7
Connection => Cable

If the file uses multiple sources they drop off and then messages rotate b/w Waiting for busy hosts and Connecting...

I am currently sharing 68 files.

This is normal and due to many things, the user hosting the file you want temporarily queueing your file being one of the most probable.
You can start worrying that it may be abnormal if you can't seem to be able to dld at all.

20508

Man, I am having the same problem and I agree - wtf. I have tired everything from turning off my firewall, forcing IP addresses, etc. and I still am hitting this wall at 20508 k on EVERY file. This is not on the side of people sharing files!

Anybody with an idea of how to fix this problem, please drop a note

murasame July 6th, 2004 01:09 AM

Try killing the dld and then resuming it from the library's Incomplete folder.
Also, this is surely not a problem of how many files you share: the leech block options that are in the Options/Preferences are inactive and do not affect a thing no matter how much you play around with them. However, don't think that uploading doesn't affect anything as if you upload you also get better speeds and search results.

20505 still nothing

Hi,

I have tried killing downloads and resuming and my uploads have always been set to a high level (and i even pushed them up a notch). I've tried forcing the ip, turning off my firewall, etc. etc.

Still hitting that barrier

murasame July 6th, 2004 02:45 PM

I don't really see how the following may have set up a barrier of sorts but try them out anyway (you never know):

-try having only one dld to see if it will progress further than 20508K

-go to Options/Preferences and take a look at how the following categories are configured: Downloads, Uploads->Basic, Uploads->Slots. Post back the results along with your connection speeds (download and upload)

wtf? July 12th, 2004 03:35 PM

Maximum Downloads = 8
Auto Clear Downloads = Yes

Auto Clear Uploads = Yes
Upload Speed = 100% Unlimited
Allow Partial File Sharing = No

Uploads per person = 5
Max Upload slots = 20

I typically download at 50k/s. I don't get many uploads.

I forgot to tell you to look at Bug reports and click View example, then scroll down to the part where it says Recieved incoming this session. If it says true then good. If it says false then you may have a firewall up.

wtf? July 13th, 2004 05:39 AM

Firewall is off!

Yup. Something is blocking LW: you see, it should have been true, not false.
Are you sure you don't got the XP's built-in firewall activated?
