Movie Problem!!!!!!!

Every single movie that i have in my shared folder is now corrupt. All of them play in BLACK AND WHITE there is NO COLOR but i can still see the images and there is still audio. I know that it is still able to play in color because when i pause it in Windows Media Player then minimize it and maximize it again everything is in color while it is paused but when i hit play again it goes back to black and white.

A more plausible plot would be your WMP getting corrupt instead of all your movie files.

I cant play them in kazaa theater or DivX either so i dont think its a WMP problem.

Have you tried dlding one of them again?

i just downloaded two new movies and they again come out as black and white, i know that my computer can play these in color and the files themselves arent corrupt, becuase when i start the first move it plays in color for a bit but hten goes back to black and white.
And also as mentioned before if i pause, minimize and maximize again the image that is in pause is in full color but if i hit play it goes back to black and white......

Have you tried other movies you have outside your shared folder, eg: any you might have on disk or sample movies that were included with WMP.
Some people encode movies using very low quality settings or with poor quality encoders (also a small chance that the software used to encode doesn't give 100% compatibility with your media players on your platform-it's a playback issue after all. Also most net movies have been downward converted so there's a major loss of quality!) If you really think it's your dwnld software that's at fault, you could try something dramatic such as uninstalling it (trash the preferences) & reinstalling. If there's still no light at the end of the tunnel after that, then check your system with utility & virus diagnostic apps to check that your system files/apps don't have any corruptions. Actually, do the latter before attempting any uninstal. What is your OS version & when did you 1st notice this problem happening?

I downloaded all these movies a long time ago and were working properly. This problem has started occuring since last week. My OS is Windows ME.

I'm not especially familiar with Windows ME but I know in XP (according to my brother, & another thread) you can backdate the system's prefs to restore how things were at that time. I'll have to get back to you (fundamentally I'm a Mac person - this might be out of my depth - I've never owned a pc, although I've taken one apart & rebuilt it from scratch as part of a uni course, it had nothing to do with softw troubleshooting.) Obviously you don't think much of the other suggestions, but ...have you tried any other movies with your media players as I suggested? At least make sure there's nothing corrupted in the apps or their prefs for your media players or sys. I guess we should ascertain whether this is a LW issue or not! It's certainly a mystery. Hopefully a more experienced pc person will add something.

If system restore doesnt work my guess would be to have a look at your graphic drivers.
Did you change anything there ?
Or are you using any graphic tweak programme ?
I once had strange video problems when I installed new drivers over the old ones.
Download the latest from your graphic card manufactor Uninstall the old one and install the latest .
