opening new downloads

ever since a couple days ago none of my downloaded songs work. sometimes songs are just messed up and won't open after the sand-clock shows that its opening the file. well now the sand clock doesn't even come up so it appears as if my limewire is making no attempt at opening the new file. so i just haven't been downloading anything knowing that limewire won't do anything to open the new downloaded file. i really need some help so i can get the new songs and listen to them. thanks a lot

You on Windoze? Try clicking Tools->Options->Saving. This is where the files are being stored in your PC's hard disk. Go there with your browser and open them in a different player.

You on Mac? Try clicking Limewire->Preferences (or Options if you don't have OSX)->Saving. This is where the files are being stored in your Mac's hard disk. Go there with your browser and open them in a different player.

If you'd rather have the files play in Limewire anyway, then instead of clicking on the file to play and the clicking Launch, try double-clicking on it. Also, wait a little. sometimes it takes a little time to open the file, especially as the Hard disk free space diminishes.

im on a mac but waiting does nothing. it just seems like its not even trying to open it.

If you have iTunes, why don't you set it to play your mp3's. If you have iTunes set as your player within your LW Prefs (OS X only), iTunes will automatically open with each mp3 you download (it will also copy it to its own library). You didn't specify which Mac OS you have. In OS 9 you would need to manually open these files with iTunes.

Yea, but that's only for finished dlds. For incomplete ones you have to use LW's player, but if doesn't work...
Are you sure that if you wait nothing happens? I sometimes click on launch and it doesn't seem to do anything, but after awhile the cursor changes to that round colored thingy and the file loads and plays. I have to mention though that this happens (whenever it does) mainly for movie files and the wait is possibly because I have to wait for Quicktime to open.

well i guess you guys don't have a solution for this problem then :(

Wow, don't get so desperate so quickly. I mean have you already tried opening the songs like we said? (In another player). It seems you are having a problem with iTunes so try Quicktime instead.
