Need more sources...

I am running windows XP with a DSL connection,

The problem I am having is when a download "needs more sources" and I re-search, I still cannot get the downloads to resume. I can find the same files, some times with 20+ results, but cannot get the downloads to resume. the same is true with the "awaiting sources" status. Sometimes it will show the file download icon in the quality listing, but nothing happens.
Sometimes if I shut down Lime Wire and restart it, it works fine and my downloads continue, other times I get the "could not load old downloads" error message.
I don't like shutting LW down, as it breaks the connection for people uploading from me, but I want my downloads too....

What to do????

chromaticdrgn,

Sometimes in that situation you can cancel the download and immediately select it again from the search page and Limewire will locate the file and if you had a partial download resume where it left off.

tried it....

Tried it, but it didn't seem to work. Same problems. Also, I have noticed that when left on for a long time, it tends to eat processing power!? Might just be that I have an 866MHz but it can peak out for several minutes, and sometimes never lets up and freezes. Don't think the problems are related, but thought that the info might help.

chromaticdrgn,

Yes, your processor is a little slow. Try going to the top bar in Limewire, select - TOOLS, OPTIONS, DOWNLOADS and drag the "download" bar to about 20%. This should help you.

Do you mean the upload bar? I don't have a setting for changing the bandwith for downloads. Also I noticed that when I stopped sharing so many files LW seems to work better. I'm now only sharing about 550 files.

chromaticdrgn,

No, not the upload bar. When Limewire is open at the top of your screen you will see "file, view, navigation, resources, tool, help".

Select "TOOLS", "OPTIONS", "DOWNLOADS", and you will see a bar that will let you reduce the percentages of your resources you devote to Limewire.
