I'm not the right person to answer this b/c I'm not a pc person but I'll just get things started. Actually I don't think this is a LW issue so much as a system issue. Certainly on a mac it's possible to save to alternate partitions & HDD's (I do so myself.)
Are you logged on to XP with administrator's rights?
