My specs:
3.8GHZ P4 w/HT, 512MB RAM, XP Media Center (Pro), and I'm using Limewire 4.0.8 (basic) & I'm connected to a lynksys wireless router. I have a cable connection here's the results from a bandwidth test at http://www.bandwidthplace.com/speedtest/ Communications - 2.2 megabits per second Storage - 273.8 kilobytes per second 1MB file download 3.7 seconds I have my upload speed set to 270 kbps maximum downloads = 29 upload slots = 3/3 disallow messages from 192.168.*.* & 10.*.*.* NO matter what I download I can't get faster speeds than 30 kb/s and no more than 4 host at a time. I've tried files with 4 stars and 52 hosts but the results are the same. I know its not my connect cause my average connection speed on SoulSeek is 80 kb/s |

Well mr.creep, Primo: the link you gave takes me to a page that tells me to do a speed test. It does not give the results of your test.
Segundo: Slow? Many people see speeds less than 5KB. Unless you're talking in bits and not Bytes, in which case it trully is slow (around 3,7KB. Not brilliant for a broadband connection). 2,2 Mbits would give you around 250KBps of download potential. -Increase a little the number of Max simultaneous dlds. If it decreases your speed, then decrease it instead. -Try setting a 3/10 Upload slot 'proportion'. How many dlds do you have active at the same time to get those speeds? Also, 4 hosts is the number of hosts that Limewire Basic can connect to anyway (or so I heard. Pro connects to 6) so even if it said "Connected to 10 hosts" (I never get that) it would connect to all of them.

Thanks for your help..
I did post my results, here they are again: Communications - 2.2 megabits per second Storage - 273.8 kilobytes per second 1MB file download 3.7 seconds I was referring to 30kbps as being slow. I can't imagine how awful 5kbps would be. =) I max out at 30kbps while downloading 1 file at a time. If 5kbps is a slow average for Limewire why do they claim to be the fastest P2P? On average in kazaalite I download at 100kbps and soulseek at about 80kbps. Anymore suggestions? |

Have you read the sticky on optimizing Limewire? (http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=27036 I think you have, seeing as you've already tweeked the settings a little). I'll bore everyone but retelling my "success story": following those steps I download with top speed with these settings.
