Sounds like the files you're trying to dwnld are very popular. When you 1st open LW, all the files qill be queued to try to connect. I find it's best to wait a few mins for things to settle down. personally, I click on the Status heading until there's an arrow pointing up. This arranges all files so that those that are queud areat the bottom of the list & those that are dwnlding/connecting are at the top & the others are in-between. And the completed dwnlds are listed at the very top. This helps u to know when there are no more queud files from the startup process (which can take a few mins.) Then LW will be at its best for searching for sources (otherwise those that are queung to connect will steal valuable bandwidth.)

Then do a search for what you want. And then select the file u want to dwnld. If it should possibly be put in a queu, then that suggests you're trying to do too much with LW at one time; eg- attempting to dwnld too many files at once (or it still hasn't finished its opening up process where it checks for immediate connection with all its incomplete files.)

Hope this is of some help. Please try my suggestions. If you have & u still have probs, then post back. Cheers.

Thanks very much for the quick and informative post lord.

dear lord,

tried what you said and no dice. i have no previous downloads that are queued. i tried downloading one filed and it just says "queued" no status change/proress nothing.

i don't even know what it could be.

should i remove limewire and try downloading again?

murasame September 5th, 2004 09:39 AM

Why? Don't jump so fast to such "radical" solutions (it probably wouldn't help much too). It could be a firewall problem indeed, so go to Options and click Bug reports. There, click the button that will give you an example and scroll down to the part were it says "Recieved incoming this session". True indicates that everything is a-ok. False might be an indication that a firewall is behind your prob.

Djyourazn September 5th, 2004 02:13 PM

ok it says false. how do i get out from behind a firewall?

Lord of the Rings September 5th, 2004 02:16 PM

See this: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml If you still can't sort it out post back.

Djyourazn September 5th, 2004 05:18 PM

nothing.

went thru those steps and the downloads stay queued.

if it helps any, the files i previously killed (due to staying in queued status) stay in the download section when i open limewire again.

this is frustrating. it was working fine before.

Back from the dead?! I've never seen that (or at least I can't remember ever seeing that). I would say that Java is the reason behind of this but it's getting kinda old: I'm almost always blaming Java.

Djyourazn September 5th, 2004 07:28 PM

yeh it's frustrating.
