Search process

I am a new user. Yesterday I downloaded a song just for practice and it went fine. Today I entered an artist and a song title and hit "Search" and nothing happens - no spinning Lime, no msgs., no nothing.....am I missing a step here? - shouldn't the search results show up in the central display area? HELP.

You know the 5 quality connection bars that are at the bottom left of LW's main window, you must have at least 3 green bars in order to do a search. If you have 2 red or less you can't do a search. Yes the search results should display to the top right of the search box.

Yes...I had 5 ascending green bars......

Beats me. Do u have the most recent version of Java And are you sharing any files? Have u configured LW properly for your particular type of connection?

GaryT September 13th, 2004 02:21 PM

.....also, it says "Quality: Excellent"
"Sharing 1 file"
....maybe it's refering to the file/song I downloaded yesterday which is in my "Library"???? Anyway, absolutely nothing happens when I hit "Search"....Oh, at the top of the screen it says "LimeWire: Enabling Information Sharing" if that's any clue???

Your connection sounds very healthy. I'm totally without suggestions for what could be the prob. But just check to see if you have the most recent java anyway, LW runs on java. I presume you have lots of ram & hdd space?

RAM & HD are more than adequate, and as I said, it worked fine yesterday.????? Do you think I should delete/uninstall LimeWire and re-install?????

Lord of the Rings September 14th, 2004 09:21 AM

Reinstalling could be well worth the go. If that fails, try out the beta. If you're a pro user you can dwnld it from your personal download page. The free version link can be found here. Ahar so u had 2 threads going & you found the answer. At least the problem is solved.
