Search trouble. (Kind of) When I search for files on my computer, the highest speed connection I ever find that other people have is T3 or Higher, but when I go to my friend's place (across campus and I'm assuming on the same network) and use his LimeWire, It often finds Ethernet connections as people to downlaod from. Any ideas on why he gets those while I never do? We are both using the basic limewire and have no firewalls blocking us. As far as I know, the only difference we have is our location on campus. |
I had the same problem, i suppose its okay if you can download all those files from the T3 or higher's? Mine didn't they corrupted on the d/l, if yours does this also, read the thread below titled ' every file corrupted?' Do everything in there and it should solve your problem, update your java is the main one. The guys here helped me out alot, they know their stuff :) hope it helps you too |
Nah, my files all download without being corrupted. Also, I do have the newest version of Java. Thanks though. :) It's not really that much of a problem that I can't find ethernet connections, I can download well from the other sources, I was just curious as to why my friend will get them consistantly, while I find none. |
go in tools, options, searching, speed and choose whatever you want |
People, an ethernet connection means just that: the other user you are viewing is connected to you with an ethernet connection, namely the campus' own connection. That is, those people your friend sees in ethernet connection are connected to him (or her?) via the campus' Local Area Network (or LAN). These dlds will go, like, super fast (and even faster) because it's almost like directly connecting to PCs (actually, that's pretty much it). Now, if you cannot see them, it is possible that you are on a different net than him (again, her?) and, possibly (if that is true), on your net there aren't as many people connected thru LW... |
'If you can' connect to each other on ethernet then you should receive Blue bar connection quality. |
Ok, thanks a lot guys. :) I'll see If I can connect to him somehow. |
