Upload Bandwidth stays the same

No matter what value I set the slider to,
people downloading from me only get 15KB/s

If there's only one person downloading, he gets 15
as soon as a second comes on it splits it to 6/7 each
and no matter how many are on they all split 15KB/s
no matter how I configure my settings

I have a broadband connection and when I go to Network connections and double click it, it tells me the speed is 12mbps

Any Ideas anybody?

First--find out your actual upload speed by running one of the tests at sites like http://www.broadbandreports.com/stest

The link speed reported is for a maximum local connection. Your internet connect speed is likely much lower.

Once you have discovered your actual internet connect speed, read here http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...connect+speeds

Cheers

OK did that

speed test shows 509 down and 238 up

divided 238 by 8 to get 29.75 and set the slider accordingly

upload http content still averages 15KB/s

very frustrating

Im running LW Pro with ultrapeer status on Windows XP

Interesting--sounds like a bug.

What happens if you set the upload bandwidth higher? (normally it should be set ~10% lower).

oops--running as UP? Ah! Check out the tools->options->statistics and see how much upload bandwidth is being used fro gnutella messages

kendo October 15th, 2004 04:43 PM

gnutella messages are averaging 12KB/s

I've never noticed any difference when changing the slider position and apply

so 15 with uploads and 12 with messages gets you pretty close to your bandwidth.

Some people disable ultrapeer to preference uploads; others share bandwidth by being ultrapeers. Some do both :)

Seems that there isn`t much more left.

12KB + 15KB = 27KB.

Try to limit your upload to 5KB, only to see if there is a difference or not.

Glad to help--especially someone who shares, acts as an Ultrapeer, and posts all the needed information so clearly.

Welcome aboard.
