Default downlaod rates..........

I can generally only get about 10% of my bandwith as a maximum value for the rate of my downloads (combined).

I was wondering if this is standard for all users or if any have found ways of increasing the maximum values by altering any aspect of their setup.

I know how to alter the upload/ download options etc., this is not an aspect of my request. The speeds I refer to are the max values when my system is performing at its best. Is this just the normal rate of transfer for LW or can better be obtained?

Tnx, laters.

Swarmed downloads from lots of fast hosts can get close to the max, unless your pipe is way bigger than everyone else on the network. Easiest check is to try a reliable host like some of the free downloads from www.magnetmix.com (I can usually get ~200KB/s from there).

Default download rates

thanks Stieffy,

After trying your tip found that my max dowload rate was 34kbps from a connection of 300. Downloading more than one file would alternate the total of 34 between however many downloads I selected.

Does anyone know any way of increasing the download value or are we all restricted to approx 10% of our total?

Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

I don't know why you're being so restricted in your dwnlds. These 2 threads look at optimising your LW: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...5&pagenumber=1

http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=27036 But I wonder if you're confusing your 300 b/w kbits & KBytes!? If your dwnld capacity is 300 kbits/s (kbps) then your dwnld speed should equate to 37.5 KB/s. kbits is how most internet connections are referred; eg: 56K modem has a speed of about 7 KB/s, or a 512 K adsl has a speed of about 64 KB/s. (1 byte = 8 bits) ie: LW shows dwnld speeds in Kilobytes/s (KB/s)
