only reach 99%

having problems completing files, it stops at 99%, says its downloading but at 0kbs. Have tried to launch file but it wont work...any ideas anybody?

I have the same problem with one of the files I'm trying to download right now. It has stopped at 98 or 99% and won't go any further. It says I'm downloading from 1 host. At 0KB/s mostly, but sometimes it goes up to 1 or 2KB/s, but nothing is happening. What's up with this?!

If someone knows, please answer.

Must ask both of you...

Were these downloads that do not complete being downloaded from Shareaza users ?

SofiaL October 29th, 2004 08:31 AM

No, the host I'm downloading from is a LimeWire 4.0.8 user.

99%

I'm having the same problem. I will get the full download and it goes through verifying file contents, gets caught at 99% and freezes everything for a few minutes. When it comes back it starts downloading again at 93 or 94%. I've tried stopping the download and restarting, rebooting my machine, I upgraded to pro but it still is stuck in a never ending loop. Help!

More for Atele...

This is just a thought... (And I am not at all sure that this would apply to what you are both describing, although rather differently ! Also, I am not that familiar with the current LW.)

Are either of you running an anti-virus application that will scan your downloads immediately upon "completion" ?
Is the hashing process of the download running ?
Seen many machines lock up due to both of the above occuring at the same time... Especially on large files...

p.s. I have renamed this thread as "only reach 99%" is not exactly on target, hmmm ?
;)

Well personally if I have that problem where it runs thru the loop several times (eg: gets to 99% & then jumps back to 80+%), then I'd delete it. It's probably corrupt at the source. If LW detects some missing parts, it will attempt to redwnld those parts. Why it can't get that last bit is a mystery to me, but I suspect it could be corrupt at the source or I suppose there's a hashing error somewhere as Ursula pointed out.

If I really wanted that file I'd try again from another source if it were possible.

For veejay's problem, I'd suggest searching for more sources. Perhaps also deleting it from the dwnld list & re-selecting to dwnld from the search results. Doing this can urge it on sometimes or connect with a healthier source (By deleting from the dwnld list I mean ONLY from the dwnld pane below the search results. ie: search window)

I went digging a little bit deeper into the forum and found that other people have had the same problem. One said that it is a known bug and that all you have to do is move the file from your incomplete folder into your shared folder and it will run normally. I tried that and it didn't work for me - however - right after I did that it did complete the download. Coinsidence? Most likely - but its worth a try. (Sorry I can't find the thread anymore. I'll let you know if I find it.)

i have experienced exactly the problem veejay describes in this thread. i have used the solution above every time with success. i simply kill the download on the file and it works fine, so then i move it from "incomplete" to wherever it should have ended up.

tip: find the file first, before you kill the download, so you can see exactly what it's named and don't accidently move another in-progress download.

my specs: lw 4.0.8 pro on windows xp, dsl connection, usually get about 300-400 kbps. i don't have to leave lw running a long time to get this problem, but it does seem to be associated with a lot of activity (anecdotal).
