All files come up 'need more sources'.

I am unable to download any files all of a sudden.

I am connected ok, have gone into search, found the files clicked on download, but after the message "CONNECTING", I then get "MORE SOURCES NEEDED".
This is happening on EVERY file that I try to download, regardless of artist / title or album.
I've been experiencing this bug / problem every day for every file for the last few days.
Is there a temporary problem / bug with LIMEWIRE?

Odd--try downloading from a reliable server like one of the free files from www.magnetmix.com

My problem is with LIMEWIRE downloads.
What do you mean by 'try a reliable server'?
Thanks.

ALL files found with LimeWire are shared on the gnutella network, so YOU are a "LimeWire" server too.

magnetmix is running a gnutella server (using LimeWire), and it's usually up, has good speeds, and lots of open slots. That;s why I call it a "reliable" server.

If you are having trouble downloading, it's often because the others you connect to often close, can be slow, busy, or even buggy.

If you are concerned that your setup is not ideal, checking downloads against a known reliable source can be a good idea.

Does that help explain why I suggested magnetmix? ;)

I think I understand what you mean.
What I don't understand is why suddenly EVERY download never gets as far as showing the 'downloading message', but they ALL jump from 'connecting', to 'need mrew sources' within a couple of seconds!

I don't either. That's why I said it was odd and suggested you test your setup with a download from a reliable source. Maybe the sources you were connecting to were unreliable.

If you can download OK from magnetmix, then the problem is outside your computer.

I tried to download from magnetmix, and had exactly the same problem.

However, yesterday evening everything seemed to be working normally again for an hour or so, before the same problem cropped up!

Ah--so now you know there is most likely something wrong with the setup of your computer/ router.

If you are using OS X I might be able to help.

However, it sounds like an XP SP2 situation (blocking ports). If sp2, search these forums for "sp2" to get some solutions.

Thanks.
I use Windows XP, so I'll try to find help elsewhere.

Just notice d that murasame posted three links for sp2 problems: might be a good place to start
