As LotR mentioned, when you do a search for a file try to find files that have many sources...
This will not guarantee faster downloads every time but it should result in you getting a file from multiple 'hosts'.

Also, remember that many many people are sharing too many files to too many people at the same time so they are actually allowing you a very small amount of their available bandwidth.
