No Sound Just new to this and had trouble with songs that I downloaded. They were breaking up and jumping. Now I log on and don't have any sound at all when I launch a song??? Speakers are on......any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks |
It's not the 1st time I've heard that problem. LW's media player gets low priority for processing so it can be inconsistent. May I suggest you instead use your default mp3 player. Go to Tools>Options>Player & untick the option box, press Apply & OK buttons. Now your mp3 player shuld work if you have one. If not post back & I can suggest one. Apparently there's suppose to be some improvement in the new LW 4.2 when it's released soon. |
Lord of the Rings thanks very much for your response. I did do that before I posted the question, so if you can recommend something I'd really appreciate it. Thanks you. |
It'd probably be a good idea to cover all the bases so make sure you check your computer's sounds settings through control panel. Also make sure you aren't downloading mp3's from T3 users, and do not continue anything that comes up as corrupt. For the particular songs you are having trouble with, they could just be bad examples of those songs. Try redownloading them and keep the size of the file in mind. For 192 bitrate, a decent rule of thumb is 1Mb for every minute the song should be. So if you know the song you are downloading is 4 minutes, you should probably only try downloads that are 3Mb - 6Mb at 192 bitrate (for higher bitrate the files will be larger). Also make sure you're going for the downloads that have the most users listed, provided again, that they aren't T3 users. Most of the broken and incomplete songs won't have as many users. If all else fails, you can always uninstall limewire and redownload it. But with any sound problems you always have a lot of settings to check on your own comp first. Hope this helps |
zetch1411.........thanks for your help. Got discouraged and haven't bothered, but will do so now. Thanks again |
If you'd prefer an audio player with built-in codecs & is free: http://www.quinnware.com/ (QCD & plays almost everything & is reliable.) zetch1411 made a very good point about corrupt files. Be wary of those from T3 sources & if you see those that have the same size but different bit-rate be even more wary. Here's an example (click on link.) |
