Black Horizontal Lines

I'm using Limewire 4.0.8 Pro. Until a few weeks ago, when I clicked on Download, an icon of a folder would appear with a small arrow. Now the icon is covered by four horizontal black lines evenly spaced. When the file is completely downloaded, the lines disappear. What are these lines for? Thanks........
