Downloads will not list

Using my Dell laptop (Inspiron 5100) on a cable modem network at home and running Windows XP, I cannot get to download any audio files. When searching, the filter results appear, but no download connections are listed for selection. I upgraded to LimeWire Pro but that has not worked either. I have the McAfee virus scan program and did install SP2, but I'm sure LimeWire was working OK after that. This is a recent probem.

Any ideas on what I might try? Thanks, Bill.

Can you give us a total desciption of your set up: 1. What firewalls you have, You have XP & McAffee right? Configure your fireewalls to allow both LW & Java access here: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml
3. ram, 4. HDD space available,
5. Connection type,
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers,
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?

Do this check for us: Bug Report instructions & sample image
If it says False then your modem will probably need port forwarding to give LW 100% access & not just partial access.

Somehow I missed Java off my list. May I suggest you endure your Java is up to date: Java 1.4.2 (click on link)
Also would it be possible for you to provide a snapshot of your LW window of this scenario. I'm not 100% certain I understand your problem. Can you see the whole search & results window?

Here's what I've found regarding your reply:
1. Have XP firewall, McAffee is virus scan only
2. Today (12/20) I've followed instructions on reconfiguring firewall - no change. Any way to double check what I've done is correct?
3. RAM is 512MB
4. There is 14.0GB available freespace on Hard Drive
5. Using cable modem connection on LAN
6. I'm using a Motorola SURFboard modem, Model SB4200; D-LINK Ethernet Broadband router, Model DI-604
7. I'm on my home network: Dell Dimension 4500S (desktop) and Dell Inspiron 5100 (laptop) on which LW is installed

I did try the check you suggested and response was 'False' for Received This Session Incoming

Also the last LW session I had on Sunday (12/19) worked fine and I was able to download a few audio files. Today (12/20) I don't get the download list again; and doing the firewall reconfiguration didn't change any thing.

Hope this helps determine what is happening.

Thanks, Bill.

Regarding your latest reply:

1. I do have JAVA 1.4.2
2. I don't know how to send a screen print of the search, but I can see the search results list on the left side of screen. It lists Genre Artist and Album findings. The right side shows a previous download list of 3 selections (Status: Need more sources).

Thanks for getting those details back for me. You have d-link which uses NAT which is a type of internal firewall. So it will be wise to open a port for 6346 to allow LW total access.

1. You will need to set up a static ip 1st so see the link at the top of the following page to do that. 2. Port Forwarding instructions for the Dlink DI-604 & you should use Port 6346

3. Within LW you'll need to force ip: Force IP instructions & sample image ;)

Thanks. I'll get to try this over the next few days and get back to you. Bill

LOR:

I tried your suggestions and still could not get LW to list the downloads after the search. I found a thread from sdaswani - LW Software Engineer - and tried that. It worked and now I am downloading again. Thanks for your suggestions and I thought you would want to know what finally worked.

Bill
