Do I have to share?
 

I am new to Limewire, Do I have to share everything I download? What if I start downloading and decide I don't want the file, is it possible to delete it?

You don't have to share everything you dwnld. You don't have to share at all if you don't want to. Although that's frowned upon a bit. I don't share my main dwnld folder. What I do is after dwnlding I put the files into topic folders & share the folders I choose. I also share lots of other stuff on my computer such as much (but not all) of my iTunes music library folder.

To decide which folders to share, perhaps you should create a folder & put files into it you wish to share. Then go to your LW menu Tools>Options>Sharing & press Add & select the folder(s) you wish to share. You can also Remove any folders you have shared.

There are advantages to sharing. It allows you to connect to more people when you're searching. Some people filter out those that share less than a certain no. of files so if you were sharing less than a certain no. of files you would never be able to connect to dwnld from those people.
