Downloading..please help me start

Could some helpful person please help me to understand what I have connected to??
I cannot download anything. Have spent 15 hours gettinh limewire installed and now cannot use. What do I do apart from obvious. I have searched for a song clicked download, and seem to be getting different messages such as waiting for sources 300s. At the end of this it starts to make some % changes but then..corrupt files any help on the how to including where or am I suppose to log in my username and password? I just get straight into search page.
