Downloads being restarted

Hi,

First of all, I would like to say that although there are similar questions related to my problem, none (as I have seen) is exactly the same as mine.

I'm a new user of LW and had a problem after hundreds of successful downloads. I was trying to download a video file of about 400 MBs, and it was at %96 when I had to close my computer for some time. Then I reopened my computer and launched LW to continue my download, but the download was like it had been reset and started from %0. I had paused this download a few times before, but it resumed without a problem then.

What may be the reason of this problem? (I am using the latest version of LW and Java! with Win XP Pro.) More important that that, where has my download gone? When I look now into the "incomplete" folder, I see the file of size 450 kB. I hope I wouldn't have to download the same file all over again!

Thanks for your help,
ed653

Well how did u restart ur computer?! If u just unplugged it from the wall it may have corrupted and deleted automatically, or it just wasn't a file that saves every some mb. If u restarted ur computer normally, did u pause the dl and exit lw first? Also check ur directory, the one where things go when their done, yeah go there and check, dont check in incomplete dl, that is very vague. And do u know if u had any viruses at the time?

I shut down the computer as I always did, by first closing the programs (without pausing the download), then following the usual procedure :) (So far I have never paused downloads before exiting, and they resumed without a problem when I restarted)

Also I checked the downloaded files directory (not "incomplete"), there is no such file.

I'm sure there was/is no virus in my computer.

Which resume function did you use? Force Resume is extremely hazardous as it tends to do exactly as happened to you. In fact, I don't recommend people to even resume/find sources either on too many files as it can have side-fx.

I didn't use any resume function when I started download last time. As I've written before, I don't use the pause button before exiting the program, so the downloads automatically resume when the program starts.

I think this Q&A method will work out finding solution to this problem. Thanks again for your help
