Default Limewire Error: on Mac

I've been using LimeWire for about a year and a half now. I tend to use it sporadically, on for a few months off for a few months. I was running Mac OSX 10.3.6. I had the same version on both my Internal and External HDs. I believe I usually used the Internal HD version. All the files are set to save on my External HD. I never had a problem with any errors.

I upgraded my OS to 10.3.7 earlier this month (end of last). Then I went to use LimeWire and it told me there was an update. I got the update, tried to run it but when I went to download any songs I got this error:

LimeWire was unable to open the incomplete file for the selected download because the file name contains characters which are not supported by your operating system.

I deleted all the incomplete files, uninstalled and reinstalled LimeWire, same problem.
I uninstalled, deleted incomplete, found the old version on my External and used it, same problem.
I asked on another community about the problem after looking through this board for some answers which I didn't seem to find. The main solution offered was to use a different program which didn't work very well/didn't have anything I searched for. One person suggested I uninstall, delete incomplete from both HDs, run Disk Utility, repair permissions and reinstall LimeWire.
This worked... for 2 days.

I had to shut down my computer while some files were paused awaiting sources. Today I started it up, clicked resume on all the files they queued, connected and went back to awaiting sources. I found some other MP3s, clicked to download them. And now I'm back to the same error again. In the status it says could not move to library. The Progress says 100%

Also, even though the final file is saved to my External HD, it is saving the incomplete files to my Internal HD. I thought originally I had set LimeWire to save the incomplete files to the External HD as well.

Any suggestions on what I can/should do to fix this? It seems odd that I should have to completely uninstall and reinstall everything and repair permissions almost every time I want to use LimeWire.

Cheers for any assistance.

This may seem trivial and not-relative to your problem but you can try installing the Combo-update of Panther.7 (http://www.apple.com/support/downloa...te_10_3_7.html). That's not the version that System update suggested you dld and install.

There has apparently been issues with either or both os 10.3.6 & 7. One of them is a problem with external HDD's. I have to say my external HDD behaved differently under 10.3.6 In fact I had to erase it more than once. It seems stable now.

See these about some discussion about the updates: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...ghlight=10.3.7

Here's one for 10.3.7: http://db.tidbits.com/getbits.acgi?tbart=07929 & others for 10.3.6: HERE
